·       Bed:The foundation or bottom component of the lathe system is referred to as the bed. On which the various functioning elements of the lathe i.e the headstock,tailstock,spindle,carriage slide,etc are installed.

·       Headstock Spindle is primarily responsible for the system's cutting activities. This component is responsible for pushing the workpiece against the cutting tool and pushing the cart that includes the cutting tool into the workpiece.

·       Carriage is the component that holds the cutting tool responsible for cutting the workpiece. It houses the cross-feed slide&the compound rest that retains this cutting tool. It travels the length of the bed to carry out the cutting procedure.

·       The tailstock is a component that stores drills,reamers&drills. This is the point on the machine where the dead center holds the other end of the workpiece. This will travel the length of the bed to accommodate workpieces of varying lengths.
